Which protein powder works best in the Creami?
Whey-casein blends and casein make the creamiest Creami pints. Whey isolate works but needs a stabilizer and a re-spin. Plant proteins work best with soy milk and a little fat.
Compared
| Type | Texture | Tip |
|---|---|---|
| Whey-casein blend | Creamy, thick | Our default. 1 scoop per pint. |
| Casein | Thickest, almost gelato | Add a little more milk. |
| Whey isolate | Lighter, can be icy | Add 1 tbsp pudding mix; expect a re-spin. |
| Pea / soy | Can be gritty | Blend well, rest 5 min, add 2 tbsp coconut cream. |
What to look for
- A flavor you like as a plain shake.
- Some casein in the ingredient list.
- Not too sweet; you'll add flavor anyway.
How much
One scoop (about 30 g) per 16 oz pint, 1ยฝ scoops for 24 oz. More than that tastes like powder.
Questions
Can I use a ready-to-drink protein shake?
